Dr. David Underwood
Dr. David Underwood, board certified in ophthalmology, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, College of Medicine, where he also completed his residency in ophthalmology. His professional memberships include the Academy of Ophthalmology, American Medical Association and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Underwood was the first to use the excimer laser for vision correction in West Tennessee. He has remained a trendsetter in refractive surgery by performing the first PRK, PTK, LASIK and Z-LASIK in West Tennessee.
Dr. Matthew Hughes
Dr. Matthew Hughes, originally from upstate New York, completed his undergraduate studies at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, and continued his education at the Illinois College of Optometry/Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago. Dr. Hughes was awarded a residency in ocular disease and pathology and completed a post residency fellowship in advanced ocular disease. His practice is centered on the treatment of complex eye disorders. He lectures nationally on advanced medical/surgical disease and practice management.
Dr. Cayce Davis
Dr. Cayce Davis earned her undergraduate degree in physical therapy from the Uni-versity of Tennessee at Memphis. She attended the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, graduating magna cum laude. Dr. Davis received Southern College of Optometry's Clinical Excellence Award and was featured in Women in Optometrymagazine. Dr. Davis completed external rotations at the EyeCare Group in Jackson, Tennessee, and at the Vitreoretinal Foundation in Memphis. She completed her residency in ocular disease and pathology at The Hughes Eye Center.
Dr. Elizabeth Nordtvedt
Dr. Elizabeth Nordtvedt, a West Tennessee native, graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering and a minor in materials science and engineering. She then graduated from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. Dr. Nordtvedt spent three years practicing primary care optometry before beginning her residency in ocular disease and pathology with The Hughes Eye Center. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, and the Northwest Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians.
