Experience
When it comes to your eyes, you want someone with experience to do your surgery. Our surgeon, Dr. David Underwood, was the first surgeon to perform LASIK surgery in Jackson, Tennessee in 1996. That means he has been doing the LASIK procedure for 25 years. He was the first to use the excimer laser for vision correction in West Tennessee. Since then, he has performed more than 50,000 successful surgeries.
Latest Technology
We use the latest technology. We offer bladeless, all laser Z-LASIK. This is where the LASIK flap is made with a precise laser (replacing the older blade technology). Our laser is state-of-the-art VISX Star S4 Iris Registration Excimer Laser System with Wavescan System. Z-LASIK surgery has fewer post-operative complications such as dry eye, glare and haloes. Many patients experience faster visual healing results, many seeing 20/20 or better the very next day. Ninety-five percent of our patients have chosen Z-LASIK over the traditional surgery since we began offering it.
iDesign
The iDesign system creates a custom map of your cornea prior to wavefront-guided LASIK. The iDesign scan collects over 1,200 data points, making this system 25 times more accurate than normal measurements for standard prescriptions. iDesign assisted LASIK surgery is much more precise and effective than standard laser eye surgery.
Ziemer Femtosecond and Excimer Lasers
The femtosecond laser is used in bladeless Z-LASIK procedures to create a flap in the corneal tissue during the first steps of the surgery. This new technology replaces the need for a blade, or microkeratome, which was once used in first-generation LASIK procedures. After a precise flap is created, the excimer laser reshapes the cornea according to the desired treatment.
